Ty Thorpe began his photographic career using a 35-mm camera and the inspiration of what was in front of him. Six years ago, he made the decision to move to the digital arena, and his talent in the field has widened enormously.

From the streets of urban Europe to the wilds of the American West, his travels have lent him the ability to stop the pace of a rapidly forward-moving world and mark that moment in time. His enthusiasm and readiness to climb mountains or move among the ghettos gives him a perspective unlike any other. His style and direction could be described in the vernacular of photographic realism, but to do so would label an artist with unlimited potential. His viewpoint, intelligence and talent are evident in the photographs he takes of the world around him. From the cliffs of sun-drenched Ibiza to the architectural splendor of Lisboa, his work is not just categories of what he’s done but a journey he has yet to complete.

Ty currently resides with his wife in Washington D.C. and Barcelona.
